NASHUA – The Board of Education voted Monday to look into the potential blow back of delaying the new Smarter Balanced Assessment for two years, asking city attorneys to weigh in about the possible ramifications for the school district.

Several Nashua school board members recently expressed their apprehensions about the new test in an open letter.

Board member Sandra Ziehm brought the issue to the fore again Monday by motioning to delay implementing the Smarter Balanced test for two years.

“They’re not even field-testing the test that they’re supposed to be giving our kids,” Oden said, “so I think we need to – you know, the state Board of Education signed on to this before it was even written, before they had seen it. I just think this is putting the cart before the horse, and I will support Mrs. Ziehm’s motion.”
