This report explains how the sophisticated software of these programs can gather and analyze mountains of “fine-grained” data on how a student’s mind works. Many parents would be appalled if they knew this is what’s going on.

It is CRITICAL for parents to understand the threat to their child’s privacy.  Then it’s important for their elected Representatives to take action.

Please take the time to read through the report then contact your elected officials and demand that they draft and support legislation that requires transparency.

  1. Schools should be explaining to parents exactly how any proposed digital-learning program works, what types of data it gathers, etc.
  2. Legislation should require the school or Distance Learning (DL) provider to destroy any data at the end of the course
  3. Require that the content of any DL platform be made accessible to parents.
  4. Allow parents to opt out their children out of DL programs.

Ed-Tech providers are gearing up to make BILLIONS off of your child’s personal information.  We would expect expensive lobbyists to oppose any legislation that denies them private and personal information on your child.   You will need to ask yourself, who would oppose protecting your child’s privacy?  And then take notes on who lines up.
