{"id":757,"date":"2014-06-12T06:52:18","date_gmt":"2014-06-12T10:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stopcommoncorenh.org\/sccnh\/?p=757"},"modified":"2014-06-12T06:52:18","modified_gmt":"2014-06-12T10:52:18","slug":"now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stopcommoncorenh.org\/sccnh\/2014\/06\/12\/now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Now Bill Gates Demands That Common Core Tests Be POINTLESS for Two Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2014\/06\/11\/now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2014\/06\/11\/now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 21px;font-weight: bold;line-height: 31px\">Now Bill Gates Demands That Common Core Tests Be POINTLESS For Two Years<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\">9:49 AM 06\/11\/2014 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<b>Eric Owens<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Education Editor<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, an organization that has used up over $200 million in an effort to foist the Common Core Standards Initiative on America, has now asked schools to shelve any plans for using Common Core-associated standardized tests to assess teachers or students for the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>The request came in the form of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/collegeready.gatesfoundation.org\/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=wPhuLSxJgV4%3D&amp;portalid=0\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cDear partners\u201d letter<\/a>\u00a0from Vicki Phillips, the director of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2014\/06\/11\/now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">education<\/a>\u00a0at a Gates Foundation branch called College Ready.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been inspiring this past year to hear from teachers and educators in many states and school districts who are excited about the standards,\u201d Phillips writes a lengthy introduction.\u00a0<b><a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2014\/01\/22\/heres-another-impossibly-stupid-common-core-math-worksheet\/\" target=\"_blank\">(RELATED: Here\u2019s Another Impossibly Stupid Common Core Math Worksheet)<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Students are \u201ctaught to analyze and apply information, not just gather it and remember it,\u201d she also writes. \u201cThey\u2019re encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, and think for themselves.\u201d Eventually, Phillips arrives at the point of her missive, which is to urge state-level education bureaucrats and local school districts to impose a moratorium on any kind of evaluations based on Common Core-aligned standardized tests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he Gates Foundation agrees with those who\u2019ve decided that assessment results should not be taken into\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2014\/06\/11\/now-bill-gates-demands-that-common-core-tests-be-pointless-for-two-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">account<\/a>\u00a0in high-stakes decisions on teacher evaluation or student promotion for the next two years,\u201d Phillips explains. (This part is italicized.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe standards need time to work.
