While it is advisory only, the school board should do the bidding of the voters.<\/p>\n<p>This is something activists in each school district could do. Only 25 signatures are required to get a warrant article on the ballot for next year&#8217;s spring town meeting, but check with your local town rules\/laws first.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also important to continue to educate residents in the district so they will support the ballot initiative.  <\/p>\n<p>Here is the wording of the Common Core citizens-petitioned warrant article:<\/p>\n<p><em>Article 14. Shall we reject the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the implementation of CCSS, in favor of our own higher Hollis Brookline COOP Academic Standards, and recommend that the school board form a committee (consisting of representatives from the school board, budget committee, school administrators, teachers, students, and community members) to develop the Hollis Brookline COOP Academic Standards?
